In 2009, the FTC updated their guidelines,  requiring influencers across the interwebs to disclose any ‘material connection’ between the influencer and advertisers.  Since I have a blog, this blog, you can go ahead and assume at some point I’m going to want to make money from said blog.  While Sam does work hard for my money, and so far hasn’t complained about my many varied obsessions, I have to assume that his patience for me is not unlimited.  Plus, it turns out, achieving world domination is not easy, or cheap.

What does all of that mean to  you?

It means, that from time to time you may or may not see sponsored posts on A Reformed Hot Mess.  You may even see some affiliate links in blog posts as well.  The good news, neither of those are going to cost you any extra money.  The even better news is I might actually make a wee bit of money which will help pay for my next step towards world domination. Or a new pair of shoes.

Also, because the FTC requires it, I will tell you that a post is sponsored, or links are affiliate links, up front, so there are no surprises.  I’ve been in enough legal trouble in my life, I’m going to go above and beyond to make sure there is no more legal trouble in my life.

I give you my word that I absolutely will not ever recommend or endorse any products or services that I myself do not use, and do not absolutely love.  If I am writing about a product or a service here, you can bet I’ve already told my mom, my sister, and all my girlfriends about it.  I may be given products to use and review for free, but my words, and opinions are not for sale.  Not even for a million dollars and/or a date with Robert Downey Jr.  So if that doesn’t give you the warm fuzzies about trusting me, there’s not much else I can do to win your trust.

They make me say this:

“We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.”
